Man Arrested for Suspicion of Burning Woman Alive on Christmas Day

On Friday, December 25th, 41 year-old Dawn Hensley, resident of Pomona, California was doused with gasoline and set on fire. The events took place on the 1500 block of Cordova Street. Ms. Hensley’s neighbors came to her aid as she allegedly ran down the street ablaze, but the injuries she suffered were too great and she was later pronounced dead.

The suspect, 51 year-old Pomona resident, Clarence Duwell Dear, was wanted for two days in connection to the attack. Sunday morning Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in Altadena announced his arrest. Witnesses claim Dear fled after setting Ms. Hensley on fire. An argument between Dear and Ms. Hensley allegedly escalated to the fatal attack leading to Dear’s arrest.

According to KTLA 5, “Details on what led to him being detained were not immediately available.”
